Cripps claims Charlie! Carlton superstar wins 2022 Brownlow Medal after thrilling count

Carlton captain Patrick Cripps is the 2022 Brownlow Medallist.

After a thrilling count, Cripps (29 votes) came from third with one round remaining to pass Brisbane’s Lachie Neale (28 votes) and Gold Coast’s Touk Miller (27) with three votes in the Blues’ heartbreaking Round 23 loss to Collingwood, that saw the team miss the finals.

Cripps becomes the first Blue to claim the coveted award since Chris Judd in 2010, and the first club captain since Judd as well – though Jobe Watson won as Essendon skipper in 2012, before handing the medal back in 2016.
